This project reinterprets Halloween Kills by shifting its genre from horror to comedy, using audio from Deadpool to give Michael Myers an entirely new personality.
CHALLENGE
The goal was to change the tone of an existing film without altering its visuals. Because the footage remained rooted in horror, the transformation relied entirely on audio.
This required carefully selecting dialogue, timing, and sound design that could convincingly map onto a character who was originally silent, while still feeling intentional rather than random or mismatched.
PROCESS
The edit was built by pairing existing visual beats with carefully selected dialogue from Deadpool. Each line was chosen based on how well it aligned with Michael’s body language, pacing, and on-screen actions.
Timing was critical. Dialogue had to land naturally within the rhythm of each scene, often requiring precise cuts, pauses, or extensions to make the voice feel integrated with the character.
Additional sound design was layered in to support the illusion, reinforcing actions and maintaining continuity between clips.
TONE TRANSFORMATION
The humor comes from contrast. Michael’s slow, deliberate movements remain unchanged, but are reframed through a voice that is self-aware, talkative, and irreverent.
This creates a new character interpretation. Instead of an unstoppable, silent presence, Michael becomes expressive and unpredictable, shifting the audience’s perception of the same visual material.
Moments that were originally tense become comedic simply through timing and dialogue placement, demonstrating how strongly audio can influence narrative tone.
