‍

This project is a top-down survival shooter where the player must navigate waves of enemies while working toward a single goal: survive long enough to reunite with someone important.

The challenge was to build a game that feels meaningful without relying on complex graphics or systems. The visuals are intentionally minimal, using basic shapes and motion, so the experience depends on pacing, feedback, and narrative framing to carry the impact.

Character selection and customization moment establishing identity through simple visual choices.

‍

Personal customization allows the player to define both characters, creating a stronger sense of connection and reinforcing the narrative goal of finding them again.

‍

Opening sequence introducing the story setup and stakes before gameplay begins.

‍

The game begins with a short narrative setup that establishes context and tone. From there, it transitions into real-time gameplay where the player moves, shoots, and avoids incoming enemies while managing space and timing.

Controls are intentionally simple to keep focus on movement and reaction. The difficulty increases through wave progression, gradually introducing more pressure without changing the core mechanics.

‍

How-to-play screen establishing controls, movement, and core objective.

‍

At its core, the experience is about tension through limitation. The player has just enough control to survive, but not enough to feel fully safe. Enemy movement, projectile patterns, and increasing density create a constant need to reposition and react.

Even with minimal visual elements, the game builds a readable system of threat and motion.

‍

Active gameplay moment showing player movement, enemy positioning, and projectile patterns.

‍

The narrative continues to weave into gameplay through interruptions and key moments. Instead of separating story and mechanics, the two are layered together so that progression feels both mechanical and emotional.

‍

Mid-game narrative interruption reinforcing urgency and shifting the player’s focus.

‍

At this point, the player’s focus shifts from general survival to urgency, as the stakes become more immediate and emotionally charged.

‍

Endgame sequence resolving the story after surviving the final wave.

‍

Completion screen showing final score and reinforcing the narrative conclusion.

‍

This project explores how gameplay systems and narrative can support each other, even within a highly constrained visual style. By combining simple mechanics with intentional pacing and storytelling, it creates an experience that is easy to play, but still carries emotional weight.
